2011 MISS RANDOLPH COUNTY FAIR PAGEANT RULES

This contest is open to girls between the ages of 4-21 (age the day of pageant) who have been residents of Randolph County for at least 6 months prior to the date of the pageant.

  • Contestants must have been born a female and cannot be, or at anytime have been, married, pregnant, or have had a child.
  • Any reigning Randolph County Fair Queen, in any age group, who does not conduct herself properly at all times, or who brings unfavorable publicity to herself and/or the Randolph County Fair will be required to relinquish her title and return all prizes. In addition, any actions by a Fair Queen that are deemed inappropriate by the Fair Board or Pageant Committee could also result in the relinquishment of her title and all prizes. If there are enough duties left in the year, the 1st runner-up will be crowned queen and fulfill those duties.
  • If any Fair Queen is unable to fulfill her duties for any reason, the 1st runner-up will be crowned Queen and fulfill those duties if enough are left in the year.
  • A contestant must have never been convicted of any crime nor have any criminal charges pending.
  • Age groups are as follows: Petite Little Miss (4-6), Little Miss (7-9), Young Junior Miss (10-12), Junior Miss (13-16), and Miss (17-21). Again, this is age the day of the pageant.
  • Pageant attire for all age groups is formal/pageant wear. The Miss/Jr. Miss contestants will also compete in Interview and Swimwear/Sportswear (guidelines below).
  • A previous queen cannot compete in the same age group that she previously won, except for the Miss division, and she must sit out for two(2) years before competing again.
  • The Miss and Jr. Miss contestants will be required to compete in Interview. The interview will be held on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Development Center. Attire for the interview should be dress or suit, jewelry, and shoes of choice (no hats, gloves, or purses). This is for contestants ONLY. Please leave the cell phone at home.
  • The Jr. Miss contestants will also be required to compete in Sportswear. The Sportswear competition will be the night of the pageant. Attire for the Sportswear Competition should be sports attire representing a favorite athletic–type sport such as baseball, tennis, golf, cheerleading, dance, gymnastics, etc. or any outdoor sports such as hunting, fishing, horseback riding, etc. Props are acceptable, but must be carried only. They cannot be used to demonstrate their choice of sports during the on-stage modeling. Judging is based on over-all first impression, physical fitness, energy level, proportion of figure in relation to height and weight, posture, poise, personality, stage presence, and confidence. Be familiar with and somewhat knowledgeable of your chosen sport.
  • The Miss contestants will also be required to compete in Swimwear. The Swimwear Competition will be the night of the pageant. Attire for the Swimwear Competiton must be one-piece (custom made, nothing off the rack from Wal-Mart, etc.) and approved by the director prior to rehearsal. Judging is based on over-all first impression, physical fitness, energy level, proportion of figure in relation to height and weight, posture, poise, personality, stage presence, and confidence.
  • Rehearsal will be on Friday, August 12 at the Development Center. Rehearsal is mandatory and no parents will be allowed to stay except for one(1) parent with the Petite Little Miss contestants. We ask that you please drop off and pick up your child/children at the designated time; a schedule is attached. We are trying to alleviate some of the stress and confusion that is caused during rehearsal.
  • Any display of poor sportsmanship and/or unbecoming conduct, any interference and/or disturbance, or any behavioral problem caused by a contestant, parent, relative, or even a supporter of a contestant could result in the disqualification of the contestant, not only from this year’s contest, but also from future contests.
  • All judge’s decisions are final. NO SCORE SHEETS WILL BE HANDED OUT.
  • Miss and Jr. Miss Randolph County and the 1st runner-up will represent our county at the District Fair Pageant in Jonesboro. Miss and Jr. Miss Randolph County will also travel to Little Rock to compete in the State Fair Pageant. If Miss or Jr. Miss Randolph County is crowned Miss or Jr. Miss Northeast Arkansas District Fair, then the 1st alternate will represent the County at the state pageant. Miss and Jr. Miss Randolph County will be given $100 towards expenses to the state pageant.
  • Depending on the number of contestants, we will award a Queen and up to four(4) alternates in each of the five(5) age groups.
  • Queens are required to ride in the Fair Parade on Tuesday, August 30. All alternates are also asked to ride in the Parade. We ask that you please dress nicely; you don’t have to wear your pageant dress but please wear your Sunday best or a nice summer dress. No blue jeans or t-shirts, PLEASE. Remember your sash and crown!
  • NO CANDY CAN BE THROWN IN THE PARADE!!!!!!!! We will have people watching the parade and if you are caught throwing candy you will forfeit your prizes. You are representing the Fair when you ride in the parade. Please remember this and abide by the rules.
  • Queens are also required to ride in the Rodeo on Friday and Saturday nights of the Fair (Sept. 2 & 3). Please wear appropriate clothing (blue jeans are perfect) and your sash and crown.
  • Entry fee for the Pageant is $40 for the 1st child and $30 for additional children in the same family.
  • We will also have a Photogenic Competition again this year in each age group. Entry fee for this will be $10 and you must enter the Beauty Pageant in order to compete in Photogenic. Only one(1) photograph per contestant. Pictures should be no larger than 8x10 and no smaller than 5x7. No frames please. Pictures can be black/white or color. They may be professional photos or snapshots. No digitalized photos will be accepted. They MUST be turned in at rehearsal on Friday night.
  • We will also have a Best-Dressed award in each age group. Entry fee for this is $10 and is optional.
  • The girls will be judged on Facial Beauty, Stage Presentation (ages 4-6: Personality, ages 7-21: Modeling & Personality), and Overall Appearance. Jr .Miss contestants will also be judged in Interview, Sportswear and On-Stage Question, Miss contestants will also be judged in interview, swimwear and on-stage question.
  • Jr. Miss and Miss contestants who compete and WIN Miss Randolph Co. Fair are NOT eligible to compete in the Miss Randolph Co. Fair Rodeo pageant, due to conflict with the Arkansas State Fair Pageant rules.
  • The Fair Board, Pageant Committee, and Black River Technical College, are not responsible for any accidents, theft, or injury incurred in route to/from or during the pageant.
  • The Randolph County Fair Association and the Pageant Committee reserve the right to interpret these rules and to amend or add to these rules as their judgment may determine necessary. Any contestant who fails to abide by any of the above rules will be disqualified from the pageant.

These rules were updated on April 05, 2011 to follow the rules set out by the Arkansas State Fair Queen Pageant.

 The pageant will start at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13. Doors will be open at 3:00 if you wish to come early.

 

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

FRIDAY, AUGUST 12

PAGEANT: SATURDAY, AUGUST 13 AT 5:00 p.m.

Please Note: We will start on time but not before the specified time. All girls will be asked to leave when their age division is finished so that we can give the same individualized attention to each group of girls. Rehearsal is for the contestants ONLY, except in the Petite Miss division, one(1) parent will be allowed to stay. NO siblings/friends will be permitted in.
Remember rehearsal is MANDATORY!!!! PLEASE BE ON TIME!!

The stage format will be a Back T formation for all age divisions. Girls may turn at all four(4) X’s or just at the front X. Petite division will not be judged on Modeling, they will be judged on Personality. Girls in the other four(4) divisions will be judged on Modeling.

If you have entered Photogenic, all pictures must be turned in during rehearsal, No pictures will be accepted the day of the pageant. No frames please.

INTERVIEW for Miss and Jr. Miss contestants will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the Development Center. Please come dressed. Contestants ONLY!! Please leave the cell phone at home or in your vehicle.

The building will be open at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon for practice, if the girls wish to do so. We ask that you be off the stage by 4:30 p.m. so we can begin the pageant on time.

Parents: If your girls are worried about walking on stage in their shoes, please bring them to rehearsal with the girls so that they can practice in them.

PICTURES FOR THE PAPER will be on Monday, July 25, 2011 at the Old Randolph Co. Courthouse at 6:00 p.m. We will start on time but not before the specified time.
