ANTIQUE KORNER
Chairpersons: Mary Ann Shepherd & Misty Gilbee
Last year we introduced our "Antique Korner" and it was a great success. The location will be in the Cattle Barn Exhibit Area, next to the Field Crop display again this year. We are asking that people bring in objects that are at least 25 years old. This will be in a screened-in area with a locking gate. We ask that you write any information you might have as to its origin, approximate age and use on a 4" x 6" card or piece of paper. We will have some cards here if you need them at the time of check-in.
Everyone must have a "Master Number" to enter; HOWEVER, no premium will be paid. Exhibitors are limited to 5 different items. Check-in will be Monday, Aug. 30th, 3 - 6 p.m. or Tuesday, Aug. 31st, 10 a.m. - until noon.
Some examples are suitcases, military items, typewriters, tools, hand crafted items, jewelry, saddles, transistor radios, signs, dishes, medical bottles, cameras, Family Bibles, toys, pictures, frames, clocks, watches, sledge hammers, post malls, post cards, sling hooks, lanterns, kerosene cans, wagon wheels, buggy wheels, silverware, potato mashers, glasses, etc. Please help us to fill this area and let the youth of today know where some of their modern-day items have originated. Can you imagine sleeping on a "corn shuck" or "straw ticking" mattress?
We would like to thank Fred Acree, Anna Mae and Ralph Cook and Mary Anne Shepherd for all the hard work they did on this Korner last year to help make it such a success. We are looking forward to seeing what will be brought in this year. There was a lot of "Remember those" or "I remember using that". It made for an interesting time hearing people discuss some of the memories brought back, just looking at the different items.
